The artist has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the United Kingdom's independent concert spaces.

The star was presented with the prize on October 16 as his latest record People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has chosen to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the vital role small stages played in his early career.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the shows I played around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – about 16% of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the trust in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also took part, generating in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to support thirty-eight local spots across Britain.

The money assisted locations that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues stemming from water damage, fires and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and neighbor objections.

Other venues were granted funding support in improving infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted performers and audiences.

"The idea that funds from performances in large arenas supports the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

He is among several artists to donate his award winnings to worthy causes.

In the band received the prize in the mid-90s for their release their work, lead singer the singer stated that the group would donate their winnings to the organization the charity.

During 2002, artist Ms Dynamite shared her bounty between a few organizations, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked updated gear," the artist explained to the media.

Previously, Ezra Collective gave their winnings to the local youth club that nurtured their group, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And winners that year the group donated their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was found to have the disease.

"Winning was ample," said singer Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust announced it had protected a couple of local spots in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and The Croft in that location were acquired under the public acquisition program, which is supported by the arts council and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the venues.
